HISTORY OF COLGA FOOTBALL CLUB

Colga F.C. was formed in March 1996, and officially opened in June 1996. It commenced competing in the 1996- 1997 season , and has competed in every season since at various levels.

We currently have over 480 players, including adult Senior & Reserve teams, and also Under Age teams , both Boys & Girls, competing at all levels. Listed below are the levels we have competed in since our formation :

2002 / 03	U-10, U-11, U-12 & Junior Male & Female
2003 / 04	U-10, U-11, U-12, U-13 & Junior Male
2004 / 05	U-10, U-11, U-12, U-13 & Junior Male
2005 / 06	U-10, U-11, U-12, U-13, U-14 & Junior Male
2006 / 07	U-10, U-11, U-12, U-13, U-14, Girls U-12.…..Two Teams & Junior Male

The club caters for ALL players, including both Boys & Girls from U-5 to U-9.
As these players are too young to play with any of the above teams, we organise mini-blitz's with ALL players receiving a medal or trophy.

The club competes in County League & Cup competitions, run by the Galway & District Football Leagues, in Provincial Cup competitions, organised by the Connacht Football Association, and in National competitions run by The Football Association of Ireland. The club has successfully competed in counties Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Donegal,Roscommon, and Westmeath.

Colga has been successful in winning its leagues at U-12 level, and at Junior Male level on two occasions. The club has won the Divisional Shield ( Female ) on three occasions.

We have been runners-up at U-12, U-14 ( Twice ) U-16 , and Junior Male at League level.

At Cup competitions, we have been runners-up at U-16, Junior Male ( Twice ) and Junior Female.

Colga F.C. have also had playes involved with the County Galway representative team at Juvenile and Junior level.
